Maggie’s List Endorses Misti Cordell for Congress
National group dedicated to electing conservative women backs Louisiana’s 5th District candidate
MONROE, LA - Maggie’s List, a national political action committee dedicated to electing conservative women to federal office, has endorsed Misti Cordell for Congress in Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District.
The endorsement adds national conservative support to a bid that already carries the formal backing of the Republican Party of Louisiana. Cordell, a small-business owner, healthcare professional, and Chair of the Louisiana Board of Regents, is running as a conservative outsider in a field crowded with career politicians.
“Washington has enough career politicians. Rural Louisiana needs someone who will remember who sent her there,” Cordell said. “Maggie’s List backs conservative women who will cut waste, secure the border, and put families first. That’s the fight I’m taking to Congress.”
Founded in 2010, Maggie’s List supports female candidates whose positions reflect fiscal conservatism, limited government, personal responsibility, and strong national security. The organization is named for Margaret Chase Smith, the first woman to serve in both the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate. Maggie’s List has helped elect many women to Congress since its founding.
Cordell has focused her campaign on lowering taxes and cutting federal waste, securing the border, backing Louisiana farmers and small businesses, protecting Second Amendment rights, strengthening public safety, preserving Social Security and Medicare, and supporting service members and veterans. She has also signed the U.S. Term Limits Congressional Pledge and Americans for Tax Reform’s Taxpayer Protection Pledge.
A lifelong Republican, Cordell has served in leadership with the Louisiana Federation of Republican Women, the Ouachita Republican Parish Executive Committee, and the Republican State Central Committee. She owns a healthcare consulting business and has worked on rural healthcare, education, and economic development across the district.
“The good ole boys have plenty of voices in Washington,” Cordell said. “It’s time the 5th District had one that sounds like home."
